Build the Confidence Required to Succeed

Confidence is key. This is something you’ve probably heard countless times since you were a child. In fact, you’ve probably heard it so often it no longer holds the same impact on you.

Maybe you’re even reading this post now and rolling your eyes thinking “I’m an adult, what do I have to learn about confidence?”

You could be the most confident person in the world, but you can always push it a step further.

Even if it just sounds like white noise to you, confidence is one of the most important skills you can have, especially if you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner.

live-4Unfortunately, it can be really hard to be confident if you’re constantly being torn down by people commenting on your content or objecting to your services.

Let’s say you log onto your Facebook page and check the comments from a blog you posted the day before. While you may have tons of kind and supportive comments, it’s more than likely the negative ones – to any degree – will stick out the most.

So what can you do to maintain confidence in the face of overwhelming negativity?

First, you must acknowledge that this is part of the journey.

Here’s the hard truth: no matter what you do in your business, there’s always going to be some naysayers who dislike it.

It’s up to you to turn negativity around into something that will benefit you.

Dealing with negative comments is a valuable skill set that will build mental toughness, conviction, belief in self, and the integrity and strength required to grow your business.

This is where building your self confidence comes in.

You must be able to say “I am proud of who I am, how I am living day to day, and I don’t care what anyone else has to say about it.”

Quick tip: Do whatever it takes for you to believe these words: repeat them over and over, plaster them around your house, or keep them in mind as you go about your daily tasks.

Yes! I want to boost my confidence!

If you can do this, you are on your way to becoming UNSTOPPABLE.

To continue on your self confidence journey, you may need to set new standards in your life.

This means cutting any toxic people out of your life who are unsupportive of your goals and ideals.

Take your power back and own your choices.

Stop letting the negative people in your life hold you back.

It’s up to you to decide to only consider opinions and feedback of those you respect and aspire to be more like.

Quick tip: Stand on the shoulders of giants – surround yourself with positive thinkers who share your driven attitude, and you’ll become immune to negativity.

If you’re worried this may upset some of the people you’re close to, don’t be. There are a few options you can take to deal with those who take your success poorly:

  1. Stay where you are because you’re afraid of their judgement.
  2. Extend a hand and take them along on your journey of self growth.
  3. Separate yourself from their negativity.

I doubt the first option is ideal for anyone, and for many, it is probably hard to cut ties with someone close to you. Keep in mind that you are not rejecting them or their way of life, you’re simply doing what’s best for you.

It’s your job to be the best you can possibly be.

Whether it’s in the office, as a parent in the home, or in your own business, start putting yourself first so you can build the confidence needed to achieve your goals.

Finally, your friends and family will undoubtedly notice your progress. In fact, “you’ve changed” is probably something you’ve already heard from at least one person.

I’ve found that the only appropriate response to this is to say, with conviction: “YES. I have changed because I’m worth it. I’m committing to a better future for myself and my family and will live out my full potential.”
